Celtics to Honor Gorman in Last Regular-Season Game
Legendary Play-by-Play Announcer to be Recognized
Ceremony Planned for Team's Final Home Game
The Boston Celtics will honor legendary play-by-play announcer Mike Gorman in a special ceremony during their final regular-season home game on Friday, April 7th. Gorman has been the voice of the Celtics for over 40 years, calling countless memorable games and moments.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET before the Celtics tip-off against the Indiana Pacers. It will feature a video montage of some of Gorman's most iconic calls, a speech from team owner Wyc Grousbeck, and a presentation from Gorman's broadcast partner Tommy Heinsohn.
"Mike Gorman is a Celtics icon," said Grousbeck. "His voice has been synonymous with our franchise for decades, and he has brought joy to countless fans around the world. We are honored to have the opportunity to celebrate his incredible career."
Gorman's tenure with the Celtics has been marked by some of the team's greatest moments. He has called 17 NBA Finals, including the team's 17 championship victories. He has also been recognized for his exceptional broadcast work, earning multiple Emmy Awards and a place in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
"It's an incredible honor to be recognized by the Celtics organization," said Gorman. "I've been fortunate to witness and call some of the greatest moments in Celtics history, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have shared them with the fans."
Fans attending the game will receive a commemorative bobblehead of Gorman, and the team will also wear special jerseys with Gorman's name and number on the back.
