Borrowed Knowledge 5e DnD Spell Guide
Adapting and Enhancing Borrowed Knowledge to Learn Spells
2nd Level Spell • 1 Action • Gain a Proficiency
Borrowed Knowledge is a 2nd level spell that allows you to gain proficiency in a skill or tool for one hour. This can be a very useful spell for characters who need to learn a new skill quickly, or who want to improve their proficiency in a skill they already have. However, it is important to note that Borrowed Knowledge does not grant you expertise in the skill or tool, so you will not be able to add your proficiency bonus twice to ability checks made with that skill or tool.
One of the best ways to use Borrowed Knowledge is to learn a spell from another class. For example, a wizard could use Borrowed Knowledge to learn the spell Cure Wounds from the cleric class. This would allow the wizard to heal their allies in combat, even though they do not have the Healing Word spell on their spell list.
Another good way to use Borrowed Knowledge is to improve your proficiency in a skill that you already have. For example, a rogue could use Borrowed Knowledge to improve their proficiency in the Stealth skill. This would give them a +2 bonus to Stealth checks, which could be very helpful for sneaking around unnoticed.
