Dragon Boat Festival

The Enchanting Dragon Boat Festival: A Journey into Tradition and Culture

Unveiling the Origins:

Traditionally celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, the Dragon Boat Festival is one of China's most cherished festivals. Its origins are shrouded in mystery and folklore, dating back over 2,000 years.

Legends and Lore:

According to legend, the festival commemorates the tragic death of Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet and minister who drowned himself in 278 BC. To prevent his body from being devoured by fish, villagers paddled out in boats and beat drums to scare them away. This practice evolved into the tradition of dragon boat racing, which is now a central part of the festival's festivities.
