England Thrash Netherlands in High-Scoring ODI Opener
Buttler, Malan, Salt, and Livingstone Shine with the Bat
England put on a batting masterclass in Amstelveen on Friday, piling up a mammoth 498 for 4 in the first ODI against the Netherlands. Jason Roy was dismissed for a duck in the opening over, but Phil Salt led the charge with a rapid 122 from 93 deliveries. Dawid Malan (125) and Jos Buttler (162) continued the onslaught, sharing a 222-run partnership for the third wicket.
Moeen Ali Stars with the Ball as England Cruise to Victory
Liam Livingstone also chipped in with a quick-fire 66 off 22 balls. The Dutch bowlers toiled in vain, with Logan van Beek (1/91) the only one to take a wicket. In reply, the Netherlands were dismissed for 266, with Scott Edwards (72) and Max O'Dowd (55) providing the main resistance. Moeen Ali was the pick of the England bowlers, taking 3/57 from his 10 overs.
England's Dominance Continues
England's victory extends their unbeaten streak in ODIs to seven matches. They will be looking to make it eight wins in a row when they face the Netherlands again in the second ODI on Sunday.
Netherlands Seek to Bounce Back
The Netherlands, meanwhile, will be determined to bounce back from this heavy defeat. They have never beaten England in an ODI and will need to produce a much-improved performance to have a chance of leveling the series.
